Spiritual Growth
As we look to the next section of 1 John 2:12-14 we can see a picture of spiritual growth: "little children," "young men," and "fathers." This section of Scripture helps us to see that regardless of where we are at in our spiritual growth that we can take encouragement and challenges from Scripture. We have a goal to shoot for in our spiritual growth - maturity in Christ. In our churches, we have members of our body that are in different stages of their spiritual life. The older can always be teaching the younger and every Christian, regardless of their stage can learn more about Christ to be conformed to Him. Begin thinking through the term "little children" as we discuss the message to them over the next few days.

Just tuned in this morning for the first time. Am excited you have past broadcasts available as I'm jumping in the middle of 1 John.
Appreciated the emphasis today
(8/21) for new believers and the assurance found in Christ. This is apart from our works but often verified by our works (fruit).
Thank you for your words on this matter; very helpful.
And in our fight against sin, the elements discussed were practical and action-oriented.
What of the reality of our total inability in ourselves to fight sin apart from the gospel's truth lived out daily? (No matter what we do?) Only in Christ's provision of strength and the transforming (ongoing) work in making my heart new can I ever hope to act right on the outside.
THANKS LADIES FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT IN THE WORD!!!!!!
Glad you joined us!
You are right - we can not "pull ourselves up by our boot straps". We are utterly dependent on God alone to accomplish His work of grace in our lives.
We think we have something to offer but it is God alone who provides all we need to live godly in Christ.
