Being Loving and Steadfast

Today we wrapped up Titus 2:2, discussing love and steadfastness. We want to ask you - what are some practical ways that you show love to others or teach children to love others? In order to persevere in our faith it all starts in God's Word. What are some of your favorite verses you use to help you as you strive to be steadfast? We pray you have a wonderful weekend as you serve the Lord.

Greetings! :-)

I'm so thrilled about your ministry/radio show on WCTS. I am an avid listener of WCTS and was excited that you were beginning this program. Then when I heard you had a blog ~ even better! :-) I can't always listen to the show, as I homeschool my children, but I've tuned in a couple of times now during breaks. It's nice to read the blog to see what was discussed. I just wanted to say hello and thank you for this unique ministry.

To answer the question on this post, some verses that came to mind were ones we studied in church just this past Sunday: 1 Corinthians 7:9. I won't quote them all here, but these verses make me so grateful that Christ's love is enduring until the end and we can rely on God's faithfulness and not our own.

Thank you again! Nice to *meet* you.

Blessings,
Katie

The verses I meant to reference were 1 Corinthians 1:7-9 (not 1 Corinthians 7:9)...sorry about that! (I just looked up what 1 Cor 7:9 was and you'll see they don't really apply...ooops!) :-)

I'd been hoping to follow your blog consistently, and haven't been able to... so now I'm playing catch up.

There are several verses that come to mind when I think of steadfastness, endurance, perseverance.

I find Hebrews 12:1-3 to be a wonderful encouragement, for who is better to look to than our Saviour? And to let His endurance be our example.

I Corinthians 15:58 imperatively states that we are to be steadfast. The word "therefore" of course points us back to what had previously been written, and there are many things to think about, but verse 57, especially, always catches my eye. We have the victory because of Jesus Christ. With our victory in the end already won and Christ as our Victor, we shouldn't have any reason to be less than steadfast as we fight our spiritual battles.

I Corinthians 10:13 is a promise that He will not allow us to be tempted above what we can do in Him and will provide the means to carry on, and Isaiah 40:31 is a good reminder of the strength He gives... And when we step back to consider the end picture, we see that those who endure are counted happy, blessed - the life of Job testifies to that - and God is compassionate & merciful (as found in James 5:11).

As for love, one way that's practical for me is to think of the little things. "Little things" being what are sometimes thought of as something we can do anytime, won't be noticeable if we don't, or aren't expected of us, et cetera. I've often found that the little things get mean as much or more than the "bigger" or "more important" things because it shows you were thinking of them, considered what might be special for them, and then took the time to do so. "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth." I John 3:18

Natilee,
Thanks so much for sharing. Those are great verses to meditate on concerning steadfastness. Thinking of the "little things" is a great way to show love. It does take effort to do those "little things"!
